Region
Portugal`s northern Atlantic coastal region of Minho shares much in common with it`s northern Spanish neighbour, Galicia. The Minho is a verdant green coastal region, often shrouded in mist, where the grey granite soils support a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and various localized grape varieties.
Producer
Quinta de Gomariz only started making wines in 2005 and employs the region’s leading winemaker Antonio Sousa. Within a few years Gomariz has won ‘Best Wine 2009’ against all other Vinho Verde producers at the Vinhos Verdes Regional Contest.
Using a number of local grape varieties including Loureiro, Alvarinho, Avesso and Vinhao, the Quinta has become the foremost estate producer in the Minho with a modern range of expressive varietal Vinho Verde wines.
Tasting (Long)
A delightfully floral, dry white Vinho Verde made from a single local varietal `Loureiro`. There is a fine, subtle spritz enhancing the fresh and lively palate, whilst green apple and lemon zest flavours linger on the finish.
