Region
San Juan is a three-hour drive north of Mendoza, a journey through barren scrub and desert with the ever-present Andes to the west. The high altitude and hillside protection make for ideal grape growing conditions and it has long been a source of grapes for many of the Mendoza wineries. More wineries are bottling their own wines which have well defined, accessible fruit character and represent high quality and fantastic value.
Producer
Bodegas Borbore is located at the eastern edge of the San Juan Valley to the north of Mendoza. Recent investment has rejuvenated this old traditional cellar that historically sold to the domestic market only. Consultant winemaker Duncan Killiner has advised and helped the Berzenkovich family, to produce exciting and fresh fruit driven wines for the international markets with great success, as reflected in the Avanti range of varietals for the UK market.
Tasting (Long)
The floral bouquet has alluring white peach and lychee flavours on the palate. It is perfectly balanced by the natural crisp acidity of Chenin Blanc.
