Region

The region, following the Rhône River as it flows south of Lyon, is suited to the Syrah variety for the great red wines of Crozes Hermitage and St Joseph, whilst the often perfumed and powerful white wines are made from the fragrant Viognier of Condrieu and the complex Marsanne and Roussanne blends created in the rare whites of Hermitage, Crozes and St Joseph.

Producer

Jean Orens Ferraton founded his own vineyard in 1946 in the Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage appellations. In 1994 Samuel Ferraton formed a partnership with neighbour Michel Chapoutier. This new synergy brought biodynamic vine-growing practices for the Ferraton vineyards and established a high quality for all the estate wines. The house style is for sublime elegance and complexity throughout.

Tasting (Long)

This bright golden coloured white Crozes includes 100% Marsanne grown on the limestone soils of Mercurol district. The floral aromas of acacia and hawthorn lead to a richly flavoured palate of white peach and minerals rounded with acidity and zesty finish.
