The biggest and most important of Argentina`s wine regions, Mendoza includes a wide variety of altitudes and micro-climates to allow a huge range of wine styles. Many early winemakers were of Italian origin and brought with them their native Barbera, Bonarda and Sangiovese. However, it is Malbec, originally from Bordeaux and the south west of France, that has established the most successful presence in Mendoza.
Located in the high altitude Tupungato Valley region of Mendoza, this modern winery benefits from a long, cool growing season and strong UV sunlight that helps maximise the aromas and complexity of the resulting grapes.Tupungato sits at the western extreme of Mendoza right at the foot of the Andes mountains with an elevation of 1,200 meters giving benefit to the vineyards from a much cooler climate, abundant sun, and sharp contrast between day and night temperatures. When all the above is combined it allows the winemaker the opportunity to produce wines with utmost expression. Wine consultant Michel Rolland (from Bordeaux) has added his expertise to this project and in the last few years since launch the range of wines have received numerous awards and accolades.
A dry and full flavoured Viognier made from a small vineyard of mature 30 year old vines. The bouquet is fragrant with lime flowers, apricot and jasmine and extended maturation on the lees adds richness to the palate. These cool climate vineyards allow for a long ripenining period whilst retaining a natural acidity in the grapes to give some bite and freshness. Quite full flavoured in the mouth combining apricot with pineapple flavours but achieving an excellent citrus finish with persistent tropical notes and just a hint of herbs and toast to complete an exciting aromatic white.
A dry and full flavoured Viognier, fragrant with apricot and jasmine and a richness on the palate combining apricot with the bite of pineapple.
Seafood risotto, griddled squid, pad Thai noodles, scallop risotto or crab salad.
