Region

Valdeorras is a pocket of eastern Galicia shaped by the River Sil, which cuts a long east-west corridor between mountains, sheltering vines on the slopes above the towns in the valley. Valdeorras has made huge strides in the last 30 years in recovering its native grapes, in particular Godello, and is making distinctive wines from them.

Producer

In the year 2000 Adega Casal Novo was set up by five associates working on vineyards inherited by one of its members. Their aim was to produce small quantities of wines of high quality. Located in Rubia, in the high lands of Valdeorras, the soil is a combination of silt and slate, ideal for white `mineral like` wines. With a climate of long days of sunshine and temperate temperatures, they are able to produce this stunning wine.

Tasting (Long)

A seductive floral aroma that includes apple, pear, pineapple and a hint of hazelnut. Intense minerality, it is well balanced with good length and crisp acidity, yet delicate. It has a nice long soft finish and a great mouthfeel.

Tasting (Short)

Floral and fruit aromas with a nutty edge. Intense minerality, it is crisp and seductive in the mouth again with strong fruit and slight citrus notes.

Food

Fantastic with Thai cuisine, pulpo Gallega and other Spanish fish tapas.
