Region

Located 160km North of Cape Town the Robertson Valley lies in the folds of the Riviersonderence and Langeberg Mountains where the Breede River meanders towards the Cape`s southern coastline. The chilly southern ocean breezes are funnelled up the valley and give cooling respite to the vines throughout the growing season. Quite high concentrations of lime are found in the soil and this makes the area exceptionally fine for white grape varieties.

Producer

This superb family owned wine estate is one of the old farms in Robertson and is situated in the Klaas Voogds area, eight kilometres east of old town of Robertson. The farm was established in 1864 by Alwyn Burger, and today it is under the stewardship of the 5th and 6th generations of the Burger family, Johnny and Kobus. Together father and son oversee the winemaking process with a real hands-on approach both for the viticulture and vinification to produce Rietvallei`s prestigious wines.

Tasting (Long)

Capturing and creating a fresh lemon zingy white is successfully achieved with this Sauvignon Blanc. The wine starts with lovely floral notes and leads to decent fruit flavours on the palate with a balancing acidity. The finish is long and clean with an expressive aftertaste. A fresh fruit driven dry white for everyday enjoyment.

Tasting (Short)

The wine has a lovely floral bouquet with intense fruit flavours on the palate and a well balancing acidity makes for a zesty, long lasting aftertaste. A fresh fruit dry wine for every day enjoyment.

Food

Great with Thai dishes, salads or grilled seabass.
