Region

The Gironde River gravel beds at Pauillac provide the ideal drainage and riverside micro-climate enjoyed by the dominant varietal, Cabernet Sauvignon. The Bages plateau is considered the finest environment for Cabernet grapes. Here the expression is richly concentrated blackcurrant and exotic, smoky fruit, which is softened with some Merlot and has added complexity with the minute addition of the dark inky Petit Verdot.

Producer

This superb property is situated at the entrance to the famous commune of Pauillac in the heart of the Medoc, overlooking the Gironde estuary. The estate once belonged to the Lynch family, of Irish origin, and was acquired by the Cazes family in 1934, and is still in family control. The vines of Lynch Bages are located on the Bages plateau, one of the finest gravelly rises in the appellation. These vineyards support two thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one third Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which combine to provide an aristocratic wine.
