Region

The largest appellation of France and the world`s greatest source of fine wine. Located in the southwest of France on the Atlantic coast, the region of Bordeaux follows the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers and their confluence as the Gironde as it flows north into the Atlantic ocean.

Producer

The Despagne family have deep roots in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region of Bordeaux. Jean-Louis Despagne embarked on a mission to modernise and confront the new world challenge in the 1980s. Son Thibault and daughter Basaline have the same pioneering spirit and modern approach that has firmly established the Despagne estates of Girolate, Chateau Mont Perat and Chateau Tour de Mirambeau at the cutting edge of modern Bordeaux. Dense vineyard plantings and consequently low yields (20hl/ha) produce fruit of great purity. Environmentally sensitive viticulture is combined with a dynamic approch to vinification that keeps the Despagne wines in the limelight.

Tasting (Long)

Located to the east of Bordeaux on excellent clay and limestone soils of Entre-deux-Mers, this fragrant, modern style of Bordeaux white unites the lively flavours of Sauvignon with floral Muscadelle and the fullness of Semillon. It is unoaked with nuances of citrus and fresh cut herbs and a beautifully balanced, harmonious finish.
