Region
The region, following the Rhône River as it flows south of Lyon, is suited to the Syrah variety for the great red wines of Crozes Hermitage and St Joseph, whilst the often perfumed and powerful white wines are made from the fragrant Viognier of Condrieu and the complex Marsanne and Roussanne blends created in the rare whites of Hermitage, Crozes and St Joseph.
Producer
Founded by Antoine Jaboulet and established in its present form by his elder son (aine) Paul, who gave the company his name, the business has been located in the town of Tain l`Hermitage on the banks of the River Rhone since 1834. The company is most renowned for the Hermitage `la Chapelle`, one of the great red wines of the world. The vineyards rise steeply behind the town, `la Chapelle` refers to the small chapel at the top, owned by the Jaboulet family since 1929.
