Region

Combined with the Cotes de Blaye, these two regions form the eastern bank of the Gironde as it flows north of Libourne. The red wines here are gutsy, with ample fruit and a distinct earthy terroir

Producer

Located in Villeneuve on the clay and chalky soils of the Gironde`s right bank, Chateau Sauman has been the Braud family property for five generations and used as a holiday location until the 1900s. At 25ha the estate is relatively small and winemaking is traditional using oak vats and thermoregulation to vinify each variety seperately.

Tasting (Long)

A fleshy, supple and rounded wine from the right bank of the Gironde which has an alluring sweet red fruit bouquet. Raisiny Merlot predominates with concentrated ripe black fruits and soft tannins filling out the palate.

Tasting (Short)

A fleshy, supple and rounded wine with concentrated ripe black fruits and soft tannins.

Food

Drink as an accompaniment to pates and terrines, rabbit, roast pork or spicy meat dishes and rich cheeses.
