Region
Grenache forms the backbone of southern Rhône blends, including Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. The vast area of Côtes du Rhône offers a great diversity of soils, microclimates and a variety of grapes to create a range of styles at all quality levels. The aromatic dessert Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, is fragrant and sweet.
Producer
The Domaine de Vervine is located on the high garrigues of Sarrians, not far from the village of Vacqueyras in the southern Rhone, near to Chateauneuf du Pape.
Tasting (Long)
There are a number of small villages in the warm Southern Rhone Valley that are producing fantastic full bodied reds in the same vein as Chateauneuf. This is a terrific example showing characteristic deep ruby tints with a spicy and vibrant fruit aroma. A full bodied wine with complex red berry fruit flavours and a long finish which seems to linger forever.
