Producer
Welcombe Hills Vineyard was planted in 2001 overlooking Stratford-on-Avon, near land once owned by the Shakespeare family. The south facing clay slopes are well drained and relatively frost free, probably as ideal a microclimate for grape growing as can be found in the Midlands. Owner and winemaker Chris Gallimore has a commitment to make high quality wines by adapting New World techniques and traditional methods and has established a reputation for producing award-winning wines.
Tasting (Long)
A pale yet well flavoured Pinot Noir that balances cherry aromas and elegant red fruits with a natural acidity and spicy cedar. Complexity and depth has been encouraged by careful aging in new French oak barrels from a traditional Burgundian source and taking inspiration from the techniques employed by New Zealand`s cool climate Pinot Noir producers.
Tasting (Short)
A pale yet well flavoured Pinot Noir that balances cherry aromas and elegant red fruits with a natural acidity and spicy cedar.
Food
Drink with cold meats, salads, even cold Salmon and coronation chicken.
