Vineyards in San Juan, Argentina San Juan is a three-hour drive north of Mendoza, a journey through barren scrub and desert with the ever-present Andes to the west. The high altitude and hillside protection make for ideal grape growing conditions and it has long been a source of grapes for many of the Mendoza wineries. More wineries are bottling their own wines which have well defined, accessible fruit character and represent high quality and fantastic value.
