Ellis of Richmond

South Africa

Diversity is their middle name.

‘Diversity’ is the word coming from the Cape and the new generation of South African winemakers are building on South Africa’s heritage to take their wines forward into the twenty first century. Keeping to traditional styles for red wines, they have been innovative with white grapes to produce a variety of styles of exceptional quality.

Winemakers in each region add their own unique signature to their wines resulting in flamboyant styles.
The indigenous Pinotage has returned to favour, but some of the best Chenin Blanc wines are coming from the Cape and added to refined Chardonnays and Sauvignons, have strengthened the stable of white wine. South Africa’s ‘diversity’ is showing and responds to the
ever-changing tastes of wine drinkers worldwide.
