Southern Fleurieu
A new region full of promise.
Located in South Australia on the coast due south of Adelaide, the development of vineyard land on the penninsula is relatively recent, given impetus by the search for cooler areas. The maritime climate of Southern Fleurieu benefits from its exposure to the southern ocean breezes unlike its significantly warmer famous neighbour, the McLaren Vale. Therefore this coastal land has lower alcohol levels and naturally higher acidity, making it a good source of grapes for classic sparkling wines and elegant yet well defined Shiraz, Viognier and Pinot Noir. A new region that is gaining momentum and much acclaim. One to watch.
