Dunnigan Hills
Dunnigan Hills
Dunnigan Hills is a cool climate region of California, set inland north east of the Napa Valley. In 1947, the Giguiere family began ranching in the Dunnigan Hills of Yolo County, due east of Napa Valley across the Vaca Mountains. This idyllic agricultural region is home mostly to sheep farmers and crop growers and until they were bitten by the wine bug, brothers Karl and John Giguiere were just that. They planted Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, the first grapes to be cultivated since prohibition. Initially selling all their grapes to other wineries, the brothers soon tapped into American`s growing thirst for premium wine and in 1984 they established the winery of R H Phillips.
