Experience with a modern, up to date twist.

Located in the trendy Tupungato Valley region, Finca Sophenia sits at the western extreme of Mendoza right at the foot of the Andes mountains at an elevation of 1,200 meters.  

Owned by Roberto Luca, former head of Wines of Argentina and Managing Director of Finca Flichman (they have vineyards across the way)Roberto believes that the soul of his wines are in the vineyards.

The land was rubble when he purchased it save for a few Sauvignon Blanc vines. He focused on planting the vines before considering the building of his winery.  Today the winery is undergoing extensive building work due to be finished late next year.   

Now with plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Chardonnay to add to the existing Sauvignon Blanc, this winery is at the forefront of wine production for the region.

Wine consultant Michel Rolland (from Bordeaux) has added his expertise to this project and in the last few years the range of wines have received numerous awards and accolades.  Mattias Michelini is an inspired winemaker and creates wines of contemporary style whilst retaining the essence of the terroir.
