Takatu Vineyards

The name Takatu translates as `well-prepared` and vineyard owner John Forsman, spends his time between the vineyard and flying around the world as a pilot. Takatu Vineyard is situated on a warm north facing hillside above Matakana Village. It has the ideal aspect as it is sheltered from the prevailing cool south-westerly winds and the summer heat is moderated by a gentle sea breeze from the nearby Pacific Ocean. With very limited production of Pinot Gris, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, this is truly a `boutique` winery.
