What's new?

The Earth Centre is the brainchild of Backberg's Michael Back and Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA) founder Jeunesse Park and is a continuance of their joint passion for curbing climate change and promoting a responsible way of life.

Established in 1990, FTFA is recognised as South Africa's leading greening enterprise.  The seek to promote greening, climate change action, sustainable natural resource management and food security programmes.

Backsberg' continued commitment has seen them become the first carbon neutral winery in South Africa and they constantly curb their fuel and electricity usage, offset their carbon emissions annually and maintain a number of conservation programmes.

Ellis of Richmond joined Backsberg and the FTFA two years ago to look at ways of reducing their carbon footprint and impact on the planet.  They contributed to the FTFA scheme and will continue to do so.
